Ribble Valley Cycling

With traffic free routes, cycle friendly cafes and expert cycling guiding services available, there’s no where better to get on your bike than in the Ribble Valley.

The Ribble Valley is a popular choice for cyclists, bike hire and equipment is available and cyclists are able to take their pick from road, woodland tracks and challenging forest climbs and descents.

Gentle peddlers can meander along quiet country lanes passing through our extraordinary villages whilst mountain bikers can dart off road towards the rugged terrain of the Forest of Bowland. We’ve listed a selection of fantastic Ribble Valley cycling routes below.

Ribble Valley Villages

River Lunes and Wyre

This route climbs Jubilee Tower, a magnificent viewpoint on the edge of the Bowland Fells. There is a swift descent into Wyresdale, a lovely valley leading into the heart of Bowland, before returning via the Lune Estuary. Click here to view the map.

Gisburn Forest

Test your limits to the max at Gisburn Forest, one of the best mountain biking areas in the north west. Steer round the newly improved waymarked trails, opened in 2009, including an easy 8km ‘blue’ route for families and beginners, and a 22km ‘red’ course for the more experienced and daring cyclists! Click here for more information and to view the maps.

The Shireburn Arms stands at the very heart of the Ribble Valley village of Hurst Green which means we’re perfectly located for cyclists keen to explore the area.

It’s usually pretty busy here at the weekend as lots of our guests are locals and regulars, as well as those who come and stay with us for our country pub accommodation. If you don’t need to rush back for work on Monday then why not make your visit into a mini-break? You can take a look at our Tariff and our special Bubbly, D,B&B for £113 offer.

If you do get out and about cycling in the Ribble Valley this weekend then have a great time and don’t forget to pop in to say hello!
